Andras Sandor, MD, FACS, FASMBS, a highly-regarded local general and bariatric surgeon, has joined Tufts Medical Center Community Care and will exclusively perform surgery at MelroseWakefield Hospital and Tufts Medical Center.
Dr. Sandor, who has a long-standing relationship with MelroseWakefield Healthcare and currently serves as president of the MelroseWakefield Healthcare medical staff, is now employed by the organization.
Dr. Sandor provides care to patients in general surgery, advanced laparoscopic surgery and laparoscopic bariatric surgery. Best known for his expertise in weight-loss surgery, Dr. Sandor is the leading surgeon for the region’s comprehensive bariatric surgery programs. He also has clinical expertise in laparoscopic and robotic management of various types of abdominal issues including hernia, gallbladder disease, benign and malignant conditions of the small and large bowel and others.
Dr. Sandor is board certified in general surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. He earned his medical degree from Semmelweis University of Budapest and completed his surgical residency and fellowship training in minimally-invasive surgery/bariatric surgery at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester.
