Experienced healthcare leader brings expertise in community-based care
MelroseWakefield Healthcare today announced that Susan Sandberg, MBA, RN, has been named chief executive officer. Sandberg will also serve as executive vice president of Wellforce, the parent company of MelroseWakefield Healthcare, and officially starts her new position on Aug. 20.
Sandberg, 57, was most recently chief operating officer at UNC REX Healthcare, a 665-bed healthcare system in Raleigh, N.C. In her role, she led operations across the system, including the development and implementation of operational and growth goals to achieve targeted objectives in quality, value, service and service, as well as in patient, employee and medical staff engagement.
Prior to her role at UNC REX Healthcare, Sandberg was a regional chief operating officer at Community Health Network an Indianapolis-based health system with eight hospitals, 11 health pavilions, more than 1,000 physicians and 12,000 employees. Her responsibilities there were for strategic growth and operations of Community Hospital North and its tertiary campus.

Sandberg received her bachelor of science degree from Minnesota State University Mankato, Mankato, Minn. and her master of business administration degree from DePaul University, Chicago, Ill.
