Our care for your bundle of joy starts even before birth. From the beginning, we help you understand your pregnancy and your baby’s special needs with prenatal consultations.
Your child receives round-the-clock care when they are in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) or Special Care Nursery. We offer state-of-the-art therapies and techniques with a personal touch. We provide you time to bond with your newborn and all the resources you need from lactation consultants to family support groups to get you and your newborn ready to go home.

If your little one requires specialized care, Tufts Medicine is an exceptional choice. Prenatal Consultations
When you’re pregnant, you want to be as prepared as possible. When you have a high-risk pregnancy, planning ahead is even more important. We work closely with Maternal-Fetal Medicine to offer prenatal consultations for those who have or develop medical problems during pregnancy, who have obstetrical complications or who are otherwise at risk for abnormal conditions.
You can ask questions about possible treatment plans and NICU and special care nursery processes. And depending on your baby's needs, we can even be present during delivery to provide expert care for your baby immediately.
Live stream video of your baby
We offer families of our smallest patients who require extra care in a special care nursery a state-of-the-art video technology called AngelEye NICU CameraSystem™. This system allows you to log in and view a live stream video of your baby with a camera placed above their bed. If your baby is not in their bed, a message will appear indicating that they are receiving care from their doctors or nurses. The video does not include sound and is backed up by HIPAA-compliant security, and gives you complete control over who has access to the live stream.
Perinatal palliative care
We are dedicated to supporting families whose pregnancies and newborns have poor prognoses. We offer expert medical, nursing, psychosocial and spiritual care to families in need during every step of their journey. Our perinatal palliative care is provided in a dignified, compassionate and family-centered manner that respects each family’s personal choices and beliefs.
NICU follow-up care
We offer follow-up care for those who may be at increased risk for long-term medical or developmental difficulties. This generally includes premature infants born less than 28 weeks or weighing less than 3 pounds at birth and infants with known medical or developmental problems. NICU follow-up care also provides an ongoing long-term evaluation of infants enrolled in neonatal clinical trials.
We will keep an eye on your child’s growth, development and overall health every 6 months until they turn 3 years old. We provide you with support and recommendations along the way in order to help your child reach their potential. We also coordinate subspecialty evaluations, such as preschool readiness, and provide recommendations for local community services.
Additionally, we provide education and resources to help you strengthen your bond with your child after leaving the NICU.
