Mammography Services
A mammogram is an imaging tool used to take images of the breast tissue to look for abnormalities, including cancer. The American Cancer Society recommends annual mammograms starting at age 40.
3D tomosynthesis mammography is our standard. It allows our breast-certified radiologists are able to see greater detail and fine lines more clearly than a traditional 2D mammogram. Our radiologists will report their findings within one week to your primary care physician, gynecologist, oncologist or other members of your care team.
Our mammography facilities are licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and accredited by the American College of Radiology.
Screening Locations
We offer screening mammograms in four locations and have a comprehensive MelroseWakefield Breast Health Center for women who require additional diagnostic and treatment services.
Same-day, next-day, evening and Saturday appointments are available for screening mammograms, please call 781-338-7111 to schedule and for more information.
Breast Imaging Services
In addition to the mammography services, we offer the latest technology in breast ultrasound and breast MRI. Our radiologists will partner with your primary care physician, gynecologist, oncologist and other members of your care team to make breast imaging recommendations.
If You’re Called Back for Additional Imaging
A routine screening mammogram consists of several images of each breast. The radiologist who reads your mammogram may need additional views with a slightly different angle or position to clear up any questions.
If it is determined you need to have additional views or imaging, we will contact you directly to set up an appointment at our comprehensive Breast Health Center. Many women are cleared by a diagnostic mammogram and require no additional testing until their next screening mammogram.
