Vascular Surgery

Vascular conditions like carotid artery disease (CAD) and peripheral artery disease (PAD) take a toll on how blood flows through your veins and arteries. When your vascular condition isn’t responding to simple treatments like lifestyle changes and medications, we can perform a range of vascular surgeries.

Helping your veins + arteries go with the flow

Your vascular system is a network of thousands of blood vessels that help circulate blood, oxygen and nutrients throughout the body. When something as complex and delicate as this system isn't working as it should, it can have a major effect on your health and quality of life.

Our board-certified vascular surgeons use the latest techniques to repair your veins and arteries, like ambulatory microphlebectomy for varicose veins and a delicate "peeling" method for removing carotid tumors. And whenever possible, we opt for minimally invasive methods that help you get back to the quality of life you deserve, faster.

Conditions

When you know or suspect something is off with your vascular health, it's best to talk with your doctor to learn more about your health. You can trust in our specialists to diagnose and treat vascular conditions like:

Abdominal aortic aneurysm
Aortoiliac occlusive disease (AIOD)
Arterial aneurysm
Arterial dissection
Atherosclerotic plaque build-up
Carotid aneurysm
Carotid artery dialysis access
Carotid artery disease
Carotid artery occlusive disease
Carotid body tumors
Carotid dissection
Carotid stenosis
Cerebrovascular disease
Chronic venous disease
Deep vein thrombosis (DVT)
Fibromuscular dysplasia
Hemodialysis access
Iliac vein
Limb-threatening ischemia
Mesenteric artery disease
Pelvic venous syndrome
Peripheral artery disease
Renal artery disease
Spider veins
Thoracic outlet syndrome
Varicose veins
Vasospastic disease
Venous stasis
Venous ulcers
Venous/lymphatic insufficiency
Visceral artery disease

Peripheral artery disease

Peripheral artery disease (PAD) is a common circulatory condition that happens when the arteries that supply blood to the extremities (most commonly the legs) become narrowed or blocked. This reduced blood flow can lead to a range of symptoms and potentially serious complications.

Carotid artery disease

Your carotid arteries are responsible for carrying oxygenated blood to the brain, face and neck. Carotid artery disease (CAD)) occurs when these arteries narrow due to a buildup of cholesterol.

Testing

We offer the full spectrum of non-invasive and minimally invasive vascular diagnostic imaging, including:

  • Ankle-brachial index (ABI)
  • Catheter-based digital diagnostic angiography
  • Computed tomographic angiography (CTA)
  • Magnetic resonance angiography (MRA)
  • Non-invasive vascular hemodynamics and duplex ultrasound imaging (in our certified non-invasive vascular laboratory)
  • Pulse volume recording (PVR)

Treatments

Once we understand the condition you’re living with, we’ll work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan. We may recommend a combination of surgery, minimally invasive procedures, lifestyle changes or medication.

Minimally invasive procedures

What makes minimally invasive surgery a good treatment option? Because we’re using a few small incisions and tiny tools to heal your vascular system, you can look forward to:

  • Less blood loss
  • Lower risk of infection
  • More comfortable quality of life
  • Quicker recovery times

Some of the minimally invasive procedures that our vascular surgeons perform include:

  • Endograft repair of thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysms
  • Balloon angioplasty and stenting for PAD of the extremities, kidneys, brain and intestines
  • Balloon angioplasty and stenting for blocked or narrowed veins
  • Ablation of abnormal veins using radiofrequency or laser catheters

Hybrid procedures

Sometimes, your treatment plan will call for a combination of minimally invasive and traditional surgery. Our state-of-the-art hybrid operating room combines all the best features of a vascular imaging center and a traditional operating room so that these complex procedures can be carried out as safely and effectively as possible.

Vein care

The average person has thousands of veins. From the big blue ones you can see on your arms and legs to the tiny venules that help keep veins and capillaries connected, they all play an important role in delivering blood and other nutrients to different parts of your body.

Our vein care team offers a variety of treatments that help you feel better and boost your confidence, like laser therapy for varicose veins and spider veins.
